Welcome to Vinata Sriram Counselling

I offer a confidential space to explore thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life

About Me

My name is Vinata Sriram. I am a qualified integrative counsellor. I work alongside you to provide a non-judgemental, supportive space as you explore and process your feelings.

I have been a counsellor for nearly four years, and I have a range of experience working in private practice with adults as well as with a Young People’s Charity.

I worked as a teacher for several years and I saw firsthand students and family members suffering with mental health issues. I realised I could connect my past experience and qualifications to help people as a counsellor. The decision to retrain was not easy. How I Work

I am passionate about my work and bring this into the counselling room.

Young People

I use creative tools in counselling and encourage you to bring your inner creativity into the session. This could take the form of art, drama or music or other creative form that you prefer.

I fully understand that exploring your feelings with someone unknown can be very daunting. I take time to get to know you and explore your own unique set of values. In the first few sessions, I draw out your interests, hobbies, self-care routines and friendship groups. This is vital to build trust and confidence in the therapeutic relationship.

The areas I work with include self-harm, bullying, self-compassion, suicidal thoughts, low mood and bereavement.

Adults

You have decided to come to counselling to move forward and change something in your life.

I work as an integrative counsellor, which means thaat I use more than one approach to counselling. I place you at the heart of my work and believe that given the right conditions all people have the potential to grow and develop in a positive way.

I draw on attachment and cognitive behaviour therapy to analyse situations and look at the past where relevant.

Speak in Confidence

With low mood it is possible to get caught in a cycle of negative thinking.

I offer a safe confidential space where you can express yourself and your feelings without fear of judgement.

A problem shared...

At the heart of therapy lies empathy and collaboration. I aim to understand what you are going through with unconditional acceptance, explore how your feelings impact on your behaviour and find ways to make positive changes.

Make better, healthier new choices

Each of us have inner resources to heal, change and grow. I take time to reconnect you to your inner voice, help you have a deeper understanding of who you are, so that you can move forward and feel empowered to make healthier new choices.
